24th January Significance
1. On 24 January 1950, India's Constituent Assembly adopts the Indian national anthem from a song written and composed by the Nobel Prize winner, Rabindranath Tagore.
2. On 24 January every year, National Girl Child Day is celebrated to highlight the inequalities faced by a majority of the girls in India, the importance of education, nutrition, legal rights, medical care and safety of girl children, etc.
3. 1950- Jana Gana Mana was declared as National Anthem of India.
4. 1985- 15th Space Shuttle Mission- Discovery 3 is launched.
5. 24 January 1950 – The Constituent Assembly elected Rajendra Prasad as the first President of the country.
6. 24 January 1951 – Prem Mathur became India’s first woman commercial pilot.
7. 24 January 1952 – The first International Film Festival was organized in Bombay.
8.24 January 2000 – President’s assent to the 79th Amendment of the Constitution to extend the reservation of Dalits in elections by 10 years.
9. 24 January 1862 – Bucharest was made the capital of Romania.
